G'day from Australia

I stumbled upon David Murray's stream and the story of the X16 and have been following with much anticipation. Such an amazing machine and what's very appealing is that the emulator and development environment is so well supported. This (to me) gives the Commander X16 much greater appeal than the FPGA based machines out there.

I've also been chugging though the Retro Desk assembly tutorials on YouTube with great delight. My first early computers were of the Sinclair variety starting with the ZX81, so I find 6502 assembly much more challenging than the Z80 with it's luxurious register count haha.

I cannot wait for the next release; money is in the bank I'm ready to smash that 'Buy now' button :-).

Regards

David

Hi David, welcome. :D

The 6502 does lack registers, but it makes up for it with the zeropage. Also, do be sure your 6502 reference includes all of the new 65c02 opcodes, because that's where all of the Z80-like bit operations are hiding. :P

I'm glad I was ready the first round :)......... Good luck on getting the Buy button smashed. I'm still doing my development on the Emulator, but anything I do with sound is so much more pleasing and beautiful when run on hardware. :)

Welcome to the show! :)

As you're an Aussie, did you ever use a MicroBee back in the '80s?

I see Texelec have added a new item to their shop today to pre-order the X16 for shipping in 2024.

My pre-order is in and now the wait begins :D
