Nostalgia Rules!!!

Post by Martin Schmalenbach »

Ah, just like the good old days...

It's rapidly heading towards midnight here in my little man-cave, and I'm hacking code, experimenting, getting familiar at last with the emulator as I wait for my successfully ordered 1 of the first 70 units to be delivered in a few weeks time.

And I do feel like a little kid! Fantabulous.

One big difference - back then I couldn't afford a decent whisky. Now I can ;)

And my thanks to Dave and his vision and all those top uber geeks out there who made the emulator possible and now the actual hardware.

A few too many Rum and Cokes has led to some remarkable coding mistakes for me too.

I'm a bit dyslexic with numbers as it is and I've made some spectacular mathmatical errors under
the influence :) !!!

Yes, alcohol and coding do mix, just not always the way we would like or expect!

I suspect that alcohol played a big part in me struggling to code up the simplest of linked list routines, something I've done a 100 times before in a variety of languages, mostly not BASIC though.

BUT... it also gave me a different way to see the situation and other solutions, so I ended up scrapping the code, starting again and ending up with a more efficient and faster outcome for my particular application.

Time to order up another bottle of that delightful Welsh whiskey!
