Scrolling the text screen up or down

Hi

Does anybody know of, or would be happy to share, some code, in BASIC or ML, for scrolling all lines of text at or below a certain line of text, so as to create some space on the screen.

Also, related to this, does anybody know of or would be happy to share some code for storing a rectangular area of a text screen that would then be overwritten by a pop-up box of text, which would then itself be overwritten later by the original text that occupied that same part of the text screen.
