General - CX16 Profile page and Signatures policy

Post by TomXP411 »

Yes, we have enabled Signatures on the phpBB forum. As long as they stay reasonable, we are going to ask for some restraint and reasonableness in what you put in sigs.

We encourage you to be creative and informative in your signatures: if you have an identity logo of some sort, feel free to use it. Also, feel free to link to a personal web site, social media page, blog, or Github site, within the bounds of our spam and advertising policies.

There are some things that will be automatically removed, however: spam, malware, or piracy will be removed without warning.

We've also got some specific guidelines regarding signatures: they should add to the content of the page, not distract from it.

4-Line Rule: Use up to 4 lines of text or the equivalent amount of space in an image. When using images, count one row as 24 pixels, so an image may be up to 96 pixels high with no text, 72 with one line of text, 48 with 2 lines of text, or 24 with 3 lines of text. Images should be no more than 1024 pixels wide.

Appropriateness: All posting rules apply to signatures. So keep signatures clean, with no spam, malicious content, etc.

No animation or active content: Nothing that moves, makes noise, or otherwise distracts from the content of posts.

Links must be obvious links (ie: no disguising a link as plain text), and they must point to the place named in the text. For example, a link called My Github must actually point to your GitHub page.

Mods rule: Comply with any requests made by moderators. We talk behind the scenes, and we usually agree on these things.

Let's all work together to make this a fun place for everyone.

We're leaving comments open here, for further discussion.
