Hello, ive had a growing intrest in old computers/hardware and coding/programing. So i feel quite... Comphy?, with the commander x16. Unfortunatly im not doing quite good and need to escape my thoughts and im hoping i can do so here(as its 6:55am at the moment and still havnt slept). Im also wanting to one day build my computer but i cant stand the idea of all the important chips being permanantly stuck to the pcb, which i feel has increasingly drove me to old hardware. I also have an intrest in wanting to hack but for the sole purpuse of keeping people safe, especially kids online. The internet can be a warzone. Back to what i was saying, i want to hopfully in the future make obsurdly powerful pc's with old hardware, maybe atempt dual cpu/gpu computing... If possibile. And if im able to build the car of my dreams, i want a rack of mini disc full of music, and a vairiably changing engine tune ran off old hardware. Thats if i manage to program. If you read my whole me rant, thankyou

Welcome!
The X16 is a new old style computer - the underlying design is based on 80's micros, but modern thought & technology plus hindsight has been used to design and develop it in my humble opinion. Very few computers started in someone's garage back in the day, were crowdsourced/developed and comercialized for enthusiasts by them. I forecast that the X16 will be around for many years, it will continue to evolve but I don't think many who buy/build one will part with it.
The forums contain several years of posts from a a wide array of people. There's lots of knowledge to be read, plus some fun posts too. It took me a couple of months to go through every post, and now it's fairly easy to keep up with the daily volume. The flow varies as the development cycle progresses; expect a flood of posts when units start to ship. Right now my observation is there has been a lull, perhaps in part to the holiday season, perhaps because of the transition to a new forum system. Who knows when the next surge will come, but I think you have time to dive in now.
PS - If you need a cure for insomnia, my posts might be the solution.

OOOH, Houston TEXAS. Thanks for clarifying, otherwise I would of thought you meant Houston, Florida.
True story ... when driving through East Texas in the early 80s, my Dad and I tried to stop for lunch in Paris, but didn't see anything open, so we kept driving to Moscow where we saw a diner that was open.
