Big fan of the 8 bit guy show. 

Found my way here to track progress.

I'm a Python/web developer so probably useless for a project like this but maybe a customer. 

I will note that while my focus will be hosted development, a lot of people will be cross developing, so portable (across Windows, Mac and Linux) cross development tools written in Python would certainly have a potential audience.
