Excited to see this computer come to life. After 30 years of doing application development in a bunch of high level languages, I am looking forward to actually committing to learn Assembler on a machine I can actually understand.

Welcome! There are many different resources on the web that will help you learn assembly for the X16. If you get stuck on anything, just ask here. Several people would be happy to point you in the right direction.
