Hello there!
This project is very interesting to me. I'm a lifelong admirer of the C64 and acquired my older cousin's machines back in the early 00's. I have some restoration work to do on my 3 breadbins since they started glitching back in 2015 or so, but that's a story for another day.
I also bought Ben Eater's 6502 breadboard computer kit last year and got up to and including the LCD screen, additional input buttons through the via and finally, FINALLY learned any form of assembly language after trying on and off through the years, all the way back to early 90's. Ben Eater's stuff was EXACTLY what I needed to make a deep dive into more advanced electronics, something that's only brushed over despite being a B.Sc. and M.Sc in physics! I made a simple game called 'Piston Defense' (a very, VERY simple 'tower defense' game with 1 button) which I plan to rewrite to accomodate the crystal I still have to install and the wires I have to arrange around a ZIF socket for the ROM chip.
My programming experience is: 80's: MS Basic 2.0 for Mac, 90's: C on Dos, 00's: C#, C++, 10's: Java, 6502 assembly. I don't know if I'll dive in deeper in x16 development (System 6 era Mac C dev is taking my retro dev time these days), but I will definitely check out everyone's projects and might topple into the purchase club when it becomes available for purchase.
