Uzeamp is a wav audio file player whose interface and functions are largely inspired by Winamp, XMMS and similar vintage audio/music players.

Uzeamp has been part of the Uzebox source code repositories demo apps almost since the beginning of the project but it hasn’t been usable by many because it previously only worked with old SDSC type SD cards, which haven’t been widely manufactured or sold in over a decade so few people could use it due to this limitation.

Uze has updated Uzeamp to utilise the Petit FatFs microcontroller FAT FS library which enables Uzeamp to access and play specially encoded mono wav files from the majority of (Micro)SD cards of both modern SDHC cards and the old SDSC type formatted using FAT16 or FAT32.

The current version of Uzeamp doesn’t support browsing directories and only supports browsing and playing up to 128 wav files per SD card stored in its root directory.

Pre-built binaries for Uzeamp plus more details on the program and its use can be found on the Uzebox forum here:

Sounds like it doesn't really whip the llama's ass, but it might be vaguely threatening to an alpaca if pushed hard enough.

I've not seen a wav player for the NES, Master System or any other 8 bit console.

The sound quality is actually quite listenable and I love that it powers on instantly, unlike my AV receiver which takes almost 10s to boot up and start playing music when I turn that on. That's because its booting Linux under the hood.

Uzeamp is the best non game app I've seen on any 8 bit console, telnet on the Uzebox being the second best.

We have a couple of WAV Players on here. But we aren't quite a console.
