Here's Pathfinder, which I've shared before, only this time it's chock full o' PCM! I don't have all the fancy features I want yet (I'd like to have some effects like slides, retrigger, sample offset) but the core feature is working! And on real hardware!

Introducing DreamTracker 0.60 : The FM Edition!

This is basically the minimum viable version to get it going. No volume/effect pattern support and NOTEOFF isn't working (though NOTEREL is). But it does work and alongside the PSG and PCM as can be seen! Not by for writing most of the feature while I had (and still have) Covid :P

Sorry I was out of town. I'll have to check my build process there. You grabbed it from dreamtracker.org? It builds the PRG before it makes the ZIP so I'll need to see if there's a weird edge-case there. Sorry about that! Either way I fixed it. Current version (as of updates made from last night) is now available.

The song options are very new so I expect some weirdness if you're opening some of the demo songs though they should play (you may need to adjust the starting speed). I think I'm getting quite close to where I won't have to mess with the file format much (the last big thing is how to manage samples).

EDIT: Updated TEARS.DTR in the SONGS dir to make sure it works with all the updates. To load it, just press F10 and type TEARS.DTR then ALT-L to load and then press F5 to play. I'll be working on Running too (it's missing some of the drums for some reason).

Wow, m00dawg, that's quite some impressive progress on your end! Just stoppin by to say it's looking really cool and that I wish you all the best!
Of course a little mixed feelings on my side because I would have loved my take on making chiptune on the X16 to have evolved further by now, but I simply didn't have the mental capacity for it. (The reasons for that are nothing to be unthankful for, though.)
Way to go! :)

Thanks Kliepatsch! Always wonderful to hear from you and thanks for the kind words!

I really hope you manage to find time to keep working on Concerto! I have plans for it that I think would work exceptionally well. I want to use Concerto with a MIDI interface (user port or card, not quite sure yet) to turn the X16 into a realtime MIDI synth similar to the MidiBox SID and FM. Concerto seems like an absolute perfect fit for that in ways DreamTracker isn't since the two approaches are very different.

MIDI hardware needs to exist for doing anything with MIDI of course but that is something I was wanting to look into once I can slow down a bit on development of DT. I have some ideas there I'd be happy to share if interested but they're mere ideas at the moment as I'm trying to sort out which approach to use to get MIDI support onto the X16.

Although, small issue.
There's no TEARS.DTR in .\songs, I tried it and it locked up at Loading. :)

Ooops really thought I had that in there. I did figure out the odd bug with sometimes not including the PRG. Also added that TEARS.DTR. I implied but didn't mention too, the file load/save assumes songs are in SONGS so you don't have to specify the path.
