I hadn't tried a VGA/HDMI adapter on the X16 in awhile - so I got the one I had back and tried it on the 75" LG. The video was flickery at first - had to get a more solid connection on the HDMI port side.

Then as you mentioned, a portion of the startup is clipped. On this LG, I went to the Setup - it didn't have a 4:3 mode, but had this feature called "Just Scan". And whatever it is doing, the screen isn't clipped anymore.

I agree the MENU - Adjust Geometry settings didn't result in anything acceptable. I believe Wavicle is working on an updated VERA that will have a native HDMI output, but I'm not yet 100% sure if it's a drop-in replacement to current VERA's (tho I think that is the intent).

This weekend I'll try a female-to-female HDMI adapter, which should then let me plug in a wireless HDMI.

Anyway, the HDMI TV had settings that worked out for me, but you're right - it's can be a pain sometimes getting retro video to work with modern displays.

Except the X16 isn't a retro computer, like the C=64 or "Specky". It's a modern computer that works like a retro, which means it needs to be compatible with the dominant protocols of the today, like HDMI. That's not to say other video outputs shouldn't be available, but if you want to reach the widest possible audience, you gotta support the dominant specs. And having a crippled VGA port doesn't help matters any.
