You can also buy just the keycaps. I got a set of these and use them with a $50 mechanical keyboard:

As to rolling your own: I bought a Brother label maker that connects directly to my PC and acts like a USB printer. It comes with a designer program, which lets you design graphical labels. With a set of blank keycaps and some transparent label tape. you can make up whatever keyboard layout works for you.
As to templates, here's a little project that I forked from its creator, in an effort to make a set of C128 keycaps. (I ended up not being able to run these, because WASD couldn't read Inkscape's SVG files.)

However, don't try to use that layout exactly as-is: The Commander has a few small differences; the backslash key and the grave/tilde key (on an ANSI keyboard) do slightly different things, as do the minus and equal keys. Also, note the 40/80, Run/Stop, and Restore keys, which replace the Print Screen, Scroll Lock, and Pause keys.

Re: Keyboard and Keycaps
I bought a few used PS2 keyboards from POS Machines with MX Black keys. 17Eur each.
Currently waiting for the keycaps. WASD charges quite a lot for shipping, though.
Their complete keyboard is 210 Eur + 70 shipping + 54 VAT + 36 Handling Fee ...

It seems that wasdkeyboards site is offline since November 2024. https://web.archive.org/web/20240815000 ... oards.com/TomXP411 wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 4:17 pm You can also buy just the keycaps. I got a set of these and use them with a $50 mechanical keyboard:

Is there an other way to order these keycaps?

Unfortunately it appears wasdkeyboards went out of business unannounced. I do not know of anywhere else to source those Keycaps but I'm pretty sure the Team is working on that problem. If I see an answer I'll get back to you.LDevil wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 10:49 amIt seems that wasdkeyboards site is offline since November 2024. https://web.archive.org/web/20240815000 ... oards.com/TomXP411 wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 4:17 pm You can also buy just the keycaps. The only issue is that the template is different, so all the keys have to be moved around in the SVG file.
Max Keyboards is still around.ahenry3068 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 9:20 pmUnfortunately it appears wasdkeyboards went out of business unannounced.
