General - CX16 Releasing software

Post by JimmyDansbo »

On Telegram, someone began sending different programs and games that run on the Commander X16. I asked that the person would credit the author of those programs...

After a bit back and forth it became clear that some software for the X16 will start to emerge in the wild and I think it might be an idea for developers to start thinking about adding a readme file or similar to their uploads.
This will make it easier to identify the software in the wild and at the same time will give people better opportunity to actually find this forum and/or FB, discord.

That's one reason I strongly suggest you upload files as ZIPs, not as bare PRGs.

There are two things every piece of software needs:

1. A Copyright notice stating who wrote it and who owns the copyright.
2. Information on how to contact the author.

Usually, the way to do that is to include a readme with basic information about the program, but it's also a good idea to include that information in the program itself.
