I wonder what this means for the X16 project. Is this change related?

I don't think so. It doesn't change the availability of VERA for the CX16, just allows more people to play with it. The supply chain issues haven't changed.

@Scott Robison It's pretty cool that @Frank van den Hoef decided to release the vera-module under the MIT license. As for production of the X16/X8.. I think it's stalled until world events stabilize. The ICE40UP5k is still unobtainium with mouser showing ship dates in September of 2022.

Well, given that the X8 uses USB keyboard and controllers, it's conceivable that it could mated to the keyboard and joystick of TheC64 Maxi, which are USB-based. Then could have something that looks like a Commodore 64 but the guts and brain are actually an X8.

The retro FPGA is just going to half to do as I doubt you could get something with the world going crazy. Besides it just needs to be as good as what the snes computer?
