C64 colors are off
Is it just me? Been messing around with the emulator a bit today and I think the c64 colors assigned to the first 16 colors of the palette are so wrong ?
in general are too saturated , but not just that , blues are so off, they are regular blues while the c64 blues are kind of different, specially light blue , also light green is not light enough

Interesting observation. It's this compared to a real C64 on an era-appropriate monitor, or a modern emulator running on the same computer as the X16 emulator?

Bear in mind that no two VIC chips gave exactly the same color, and the colors on NTSC and PAL were also different. And just to make things interesting, the VICE pallet doesn't really match any of my 4 Commodores....
the good news is that you can set the pallet however you like, so if you want a slightly more Commodore look, you can tweak the colors pretty easily.

What do you mean? The chips are digital. How can they be different?

both, several c64 machines on 1702 & 1084 monitors and Vice , I'm not talking about small differences, I see the colors really off

vice colors are much closer to what I see on the real hardware, I'm used to PAL colors , it might be a NTSC thing but i really doubt the differences are that big.
yeah, you can edit them thats absolutely great, but I was thinking on all the games that are going to be released using the c64 palette ( I hope ) that probably won't tweak the colors and they are gonna look so off ...

Because there's analogue circuitry involved in displaying the colours on a non-digital monitor like a TV or a monitor taking composite in.

Except they are not digital. The video output portion is analog. It has to be, since NTSC and PAL are both analog, and especially with NTSC, user adjustments can make for very different pictures.

Quite. While "PAL" stands for "Pretty, but Annoying Lag", NTSC stands for "Never The Same Color".
