Here is the trailer for Pixeus, my platformer/adventure for the CX16. I've dropped a few updates before but I'm very close to releasing so I thought I'd make an official trailer of sorts. Its all programmed in C and I use LDtk for level editing. I'm excited to wrap it up soon and drop a build!

I think this is a really cool look, but OTOH I am an old man with tired eyes. How hard do you think it would it be to do a game like this that can switch between 640x480 and 320x240?

This looks like a fun game.
Cant see many enemies though.
Are you planning on including more ? seems a bit sparse at the moment. Or is that intended.
I really like the graphics too, reminds me a bit of Super Meat Boy.
Music seems to fit well.
I dopped a like on the video too.

There will be more enemies. I haven't placed them or figured out the density yet. You will have to revisit screens in this (like a lot of metroidvania games) so I don't want the density of enemies to be too much. Part of the game is exploring and finding all the energy and gold.

What this game evokes for me, with its pastoral setting, is a medieval town resource management game.
But with a side-scroller UI.
Basically, you have a town and a castle that you seek to build up.
Your guy leaves the town area to go into the wilderness. Collecting fruits, flowers, etc... for various purposes [they are crafted back in the town]. You hunt animals, etc...
There are randomly-generated mythical creatures. Kind of like how Borderlands does it with weapons. So, like a half-Ram/half-man, a mystical deer, whatever. Stuff just generates in the wastes. So you fight them, or maybe negotiate with them if they are sentient. This gives you very special items, which you can take back to the town. So like a Ram-man horn gives you a +1 bone knife or whatever.
So you get to explore the countryside, and there's always stuff to do. Later, you have to fend off invasions and stuff, but only once you've had time to build up. You can buy better kit for the castle guards, who shoot arrows and stuff from the ramparts.

I like this idea for a game a lot. Mine is much more basic. More-or-less a lite metroidvania/platformer. Just wanted to get my feet wet on this system. Maybe something more ambitious in the future though!

Yes, makes sense.
Your art style is fairly unique, as others have commented. I like the capabilities you are showing in the X16. People will look at your games and say, "This is an 8-bit system?"
