Great to see this finally happening.
I love my Developer Edition machine, and I feel like this 'mini' option will remove a cost barrier and bring more people into the community. Coming complete with the case will definitely make it more consumer friendly for people who are not used to handling bare PCBs.
I'm a huge fan of having the SD card and Joystick ports at the front. Although, having them on the side might help with a cleaner overall 'look', while still being convenient.
On the rear video ports, I would say ditch the VGA and S-Video as it's getting harder to find modern monitors and TVs with those options now.
