New SD_Card Image for R48

Post by Gerry »

Hello everyone, I have a quick question. Is there a new SD_Card image for R48? All the SD_Card images I can find appear to be at least 8 months old. I assume the rapid pace of software development in all areas of the CX16 indicates that a lot of the SD_Card applications would be a lot more mature and ready for prime time. Add to that the ESP32 and Dual Channel MIDI cards and the possibilities of what the CX16 can do quadruple. I thought I saw a page containing a new SD_Card image for R48 but I've been unable to find it after searching for hours.

Also, I would like to thank everyone on all the new documentation for beginners I'm finding through these forums. I am really enjoying reading these documents and how much better I understand the CX16 now. Bravo to all and my heartfelt thanks.

Also, is it possible for the moderators to open a new root forum that's dedicated beginner's questions and resources they will be looking for? A new batch of CX16 development boards are due to be released soon (early February?) and a whole new generation of users are going to be joining and asking a million questions here. This new forum wouldn't contain new and different information, but be a repository at its beginning of where to find the stuff needed to get started that exists now. I think this would make it easier for the newcomers and the people who help and support these newcomers.

Just a thought,
Gerry

As far as I know, cx16forum/sdcard on GitHub is the official SD card "starter-kit" repository, and you're right, it's been a while since it's seen any updates.

We haven't really done anything for the SD card image in a while. I haven't received any requests to add or update anything. If there's something you think needs updating, please let us know.

As to a new forum topic area... you're free to ask questions anywhere. As the forum is "users helping users", opening new topic areas is not going to magically make new content appear, and any content related to getting started with the machine should be posted in the Guides and Tutorials section.
